Who we are

The Australian BMX Hall Of Fame recognises and celebrates the people and history of Australian BMX. The Australian BMX Museum manages the Hall Of Fame exhibition and supports Hall Of Fame operations.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• your name, email address, telephone number, location and contact preferences;
• membership, alumni, profile, access, renewal and participation details;
• nominations, referrals, enquiries, session registrations, questions and other information you choose to provide;
• order, donation, transaction and fulfilment details;
• email consent, delivery and unsubscribe records; and
• technical and security information such as device, browser, IP-derived security records and website activity.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. The Hall Of Fame does not store your full card number or card security code.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide and administer memberships, alumni access, Live Mentor Sessions, nominations, referrals, donations, merchandise and events; communicate about those services; respond to enquiries; maintain accurate records; protect the site; meet legal obligations; and improve Hall Of Fame programs.

We send news, offers or other optional marketing only where permitted. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails or contact us. Essential account, transaction, safety and membership service messages may still be sent when required.

When we share information

We may give relevant information to trusted service providers that help us operate, including website hosting, database, email delivery, payment, fulfilment, analytics and video-conferencing providers. They may use it only to provide those services or meet their legal obligations.

Some providers may store or process information outside Australia. Their locations and practices can change. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and protect information when it is handled for us.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to address fraud or security concerns, or with your consent. We do not sell personal information.

Referrals and information about other people

If you refer a friend or provide information about another person, you must know them and reasonably believe they would expect you to share their details for that purpose. Referral details are used to send a one-off invitation and record who made the referral; the friend is not treated as a marketing subscriber merely because they were referred.

Children and families

BMX includes young riders. A parent or guardian should be involved when a person under 18 provides personal information, creates paid membership arrangements or participates in member activities. We ask users not to submit sensitive information about children unless it is necessary and they have authority to do so.

Storage, security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including restricted administration access and secure payment processing. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, our operational records, dispute resolution and legal, accounting or reporting obligations. Information that is no longer required is deleted or de-identified where reasonably practicable.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, update communication preferences, or raise a privacy concern by emailing us. We may need to verify your identity before acting and may retain records where required by law.

We will investigate privacy complaints and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. The current version and its update date will remain available on this page.
